It features advanced intelligent DSP technology that matches its performance so closely to the user’s system that it can confidently turn a two-way speaker system into a three-way. For other models, including non-Dynaudio speakers, the crossover frequency, gain and phase can be set manually.

The reason for its powerful bass reproduction is two brand new 24 cm MSP + Hybrid Drive units, specially designed for sub woofers, driven by a 500 Watt power amplifier. These new units sit at both ends of the carefully constructed, sealed enclosure, which is wider than deep to help stand more discreetly against a wall.

The Sub 6 has dual RCA and XLR connections suitable for most systems and comes with a number of useful features to support larger and more advanced settings. This includes the ability to set a time delay to ensure that the sub and speakers work in perfect sync with each other. All you have to do as a user is to enter the distance from the sub to the speakers and the sub automatically adjusts with time and phase delays. There’s also a full parametric EQ, including three filters to counteract the effects of room modes, for the best possible performance.

Two way to three way

The Sub 6 integrates so well into existing Dynaudio setups because the engineers decided to do their duty and assess the acoustics of each of Dynaudio’s popular high-end hi-fi speakers – then create a preset for each. This information is built into the Sub 6, allowing the display and menu system to allow users to select the specific model of selected Dynaudio speakers they have in their setup. The Sub 6’s roll-off is then perfectly matched between the two, turning a two-way system into a three-way system.

Firmware upgrades

When Dynaudio releases new speakers, they will release a firmware update for the Sub 6, with their new performance cards so that the Sub 6 can work as closely with the latest models as it does with the classics.

Brand new drivers, tailor-made for subwoofers

Subwoofers need a different balance in their drivers than stereo speakers. That’s why the Sub 6 uses Dynaudio’s new MSP + Hybrid Drive units, which are primarily made of aluminum for rigidity, specifically with sub woofers in mind. To counteract aluminum resonance, it uses a double-acting damping system that combines paper damping on the back of the driver with Dynaudio’s proprietary Magnesium Silicate Polymer material in a damping hood for the best performance.
